BMW knew the R nineT was a cool bike they hoped the younger set would like, but they claim to be surprised by just how successful it’s been. They didn’t really corral as many bearded millennials as they’d hoped, since their numbers tell them the average nineT buyer is 49 years old and as wealthy as the typical K1600 buyer. But maybe that’s because that first 2013 R nineT was a $15,000 motorcycle? 2017 BMW R NineT Scrambler First Ride Review 2017 BMW R NineT Racer Review – First Ride 2017 BMW R NineT Pure And R NineT Racer Previews Since then, they’ve been working to bring that price down

Head Shake – Most Folks

Head Shake – Most Folks : Since when had a back protector become de rigueur to ride to the hardware store? It struck me recently tripping over a set of Alpinestars in the living room: When was the last time I dressed like a normal person and just went for a ride? You know, pull on a regular set of boots that don’t have replaceable toe sliders or side-buckle closures and a normal jacket sans armor and disappear into the crowd. The best I could come up with was 1985. This coupled with getting caught up in John Burns’ latest descent into hypercycle madness – “But please don’t take that to mean the manufacturers should ever take away our gnarly, fuel-gargling, tire-wrinkling (yet Euro4-compliant!) Superbikes. No, please, not that!” – woke me to the fact that somewhere along the line the standard motorcyclist that was me had disappeared along with our standard motorcycle sensibilities. Was this a temporary or terminal condition? Whatever – Superbikes Forever! Most folks will never ri

Ducati Announces Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro | First Look Review

Ducati Announces Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro | First Look Review : Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro. Ducati’s superlative Multistrada 1200 Enduro is already perched on the peak of what most normal mortals can handle—a towering, 152-horsepower (claimed), snarling beast of adventure-touring burden, with more acronyms than your nearest military base (veterans will know exactly what I mean) that correspond to a slew of electronic aids meant to make the beast rideable by the aforementioned normal mortals. And just in case it didn’t look quite beastly enough for you, Ducati has now announced the new Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro package. Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro. The Enduro Pro comes with all the standard equipment of the regular Enduro, like Bosch 9.1ME cornering ABS, cruise control, four ride modes, the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS), Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) and cornering lights (D

Country Roads, Country Bridges: A Ride Through Delaware and Sullivan Counties, New York

Country Roads, Country Bridges: A Ride Through Delaware and Sullivan Counties, New York : The Hamden Covered Bridge, Route 10, Delaware County, was built in 1859 and crosses the West Branch of the Delaware River. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. (Photos by the author) Whenever I want to add a favorite ride to my repertoire, it requires two components: great roads and something unique and impressive to see. The bridges of Delaware and Sullivan counties of New York fill the bill. These two counties have some of the best motorcycling roads in the Northeast, leading to covered, stone arch, steel framed and aqueduct bridges, and snaking blissfully through the countryside. Originally built as a canal boat crossing, the Roebling’s Delaware Aqueduct suspension bridge was in operation from 1828-1898. Today, riders can cruise across it to Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania, or just walk across. There is parking on both sides. I began at the confluence of State Routes 17 and 17A
